The awesome sound of jet aircraft and the smell of burning kerosene will be part of the excitement when Maryborough Airport hosts the Queensland Turbine Flyers Association QTFly-in from August 1 – 3. The fly-in is Queensland's premier event for all model turbine aircraft including jets, turbo props and helicopters.
QTF President Jan Roestorf encouraged all MAAA members to attend the event which will feature the best models from around the country.
"We have confirmed starters from as far away as Victoria and Western Australia, not to mention all the local crew," Mr Roestorf said.
"Even if you are not into jets this will be a fantastic event just to come along and watch.
"The QTF is about much more than just events, we offer support for those in the hobby wanting to try their hand or move into the world of turbine aircraft.
"We actively promote a MOP rules based test and have a rating called "TOP GUN" which sets a high bar for members to work towards."
Members who attend the QTF event will enjoy a 1600m x 30m bitumen runway and the fellowship of an awesome QLD turbine community.
The MAAA President Neil Tank encouraged members to attend the event.
"This is just one of the fantastic events the MAAA supports," he said.
"With more than 300 clubs across the country and thousands of members we work hard to deliver everything you need. Our clubs will help you with advice on the best models, education and technical expertise. Our clubs provide a safe place to fly and even have recognised flight instructors to help you get your wings!
"We make model aeroplane flying safer for everyone to enjoy."
